J. Money over at Budgets Are Sexy wrote this fun list of 12 More #Money Ideas to Try and I really liked the one at the end. One brilliant reader said she keeps an “Accomplishments” list to look back on “whenever [she] feels completely incompetent or like [she’ll] never get anywhere.”
Who doesn’t relate to that sometimes?
I know I do.
I’ve also been having a real weird few months trying to sort out the direction of my life (I really thought this existential nonsense would’ve been sorted out by 35, but maybe it just never really sorts itself out).
So this suggestion really hit the spot.
Here’s my accomplishments list:
- I have survived twelve years as a full-time stage manager.
- I’ve been to 49 States.
- I worked for a cruise line for five years and saw so much of the world and made incredible friends and learned even more about stage managing and how to drink ridiculous amounts without dying of alcohol poisoning (it was a close call a few times).
- I worked for Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
- I’ve worked on every show that was on my stage management bucket list except BatBoy: The Musical.
- I impulsively moved across the country to one of the only places in America more expensive than the NYC region and managed to pay my rent for the full year there.
- I managed to hit $100k net worth.
- I lived in a foreign country for a year and the worst that happened was that I ruined the bathroom ceiling because I didn’t understand the switch for the exhaust fan was on the ceiling outside the bathroom (W.T.F., England).
- I’ve climbed Huayna Picchu.
- I swam the length of the English Channel for a swimming fundraiser. And I ran a 5k once – the 5k was harder.
