Father’s Day is coming up in about two weeks. I know one lesson my dad taught me was to never pay full price. My dad honestly makes frugality an art form at times and I feel pretty lucky that I naturally try to gravitate towards that too.
That being said, I know the best way to get a big smile out of him on Father’s Day is to find the right gift and be able to say I got a good deal on it. With all the great coupon websites on the web these days, it’s crazy not to take advantage of them. Sites like Groupon, PromoPro.com and The Krazy Coupon Lady make it a piece of cake.
Speaking of cake, one of the easiest deals to find online are discounts to local eateries. You can impress dad by taking him out for dinner and picking up the tab. Restaurants like Red Lobster, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and Tony Packo’s (especially if Dad was a M*A*S*H fan) all have great deals online.
Maybe you’d rather just spend the day together making some new memories. You can tourist it up with Pop in New York City and save on the New York Pass (seriously, I cannot rave about city passes enough – if you’re going to go full on tourist, they’re the best way to save money on the most popular sites in big cities). Perhaps spelunking in Howe Caverns is more your speed or checking out the Eerie Zoo.
If your dad is just hoping for a quiet weekend, you can also find deals to help give him that. Pick up a coupon to Sportman’s Warehouse and splurge on some new fishing gear. Renew his subscription to Field & Stream or if Dad’s a pretty tough guy, sign him up for a Tough Mudder and run it with him!
Sometimes finding the right gift can be a little overwhelming because there are just so many options. Deciding to stick with an online deal can help you narrow down your options a little, while still providing enough variety that you can almost always find the right thing for your Dad – no matter what his interests are.
The best thing about finding coupons for these things is that they’re all things you can do together. I can’t count the number of pointless baubles I got my Dad over the years before wising up and realizing that, especially as I got older and was around a lot less, that what he really wanted on any gift giving holidays was really just time together.
I got a nice pair of sneakers for 49 dollars on sale from 90. He stated they were still too pricey for his blood. He smiled though, so it was a win win for me. He uses them now, and prefers them over any others.

One year, I got my dad a trip to the zoo with all his kids. He definitely enjoyed it and sometimes sneaks to the zoo on his own when he thinks no one will notice.
