Purchasing a gift for the Snuggle Bug in your life is no easy feat – I know my boyfriend is a pain in the butt to buy for each year – and once again, the easiest thing to do is give it a personalized spin. So here are some DIY and not-so-DIY projects to keep your hubby happy during the holidays.
1.) Beer Bottle Glass Set – a pretty simple DIY just involving some nail polish remover, yarn and old, empty bottles on beer. Pick his favorite and make him a set of 4 tumbles.
2.) Bicycle Handlebar Bag – Is your man into biking? This is a pretty cool DIY for the cyclist in your life. Parachute clips can be found at Jo-Ann crafts for about $1.99, reflective tape for $2.99 and the rest of the stuff should be lying around the house.
3.) A Kiss in Your Pocket – for the extremely low budget gift giver or DIY-challenged chick, you can create this cute flipbook of you blowing kisses.
4.) T-Shirt Quilt – on the flip side, if you are down with your homemaking skills, this is a very cool gift. Find your husband’s old t-shirts from activities he’s participated in and turn it into a quilt (of course, if you’re not budget conscious and you like this, you can have it done for you for about $200 here).
And, as always, if DIY is not your thing, here are some alternative gift ideas for your better half that are under $5 (not including shipping):
1.) Pick-Up Line Cards –give him some ideas for new lines to use on you.
2.) Is he a hunter? Print out the local hunting site guides for your state’s from the Department of Natural Resources or the Department of Fish & Wildlife and add some cool jerky like Buffalo Bob’s Alligator Cajun Style Jerky 3 Pack or Wild Game Beef Jerky- Antelope Stick 3 Pack. Not into dried creature meat? Give Heatmax Hot Hands Mini Hand Warmer a try instead.
3.) Does your fella jones for java every morning? Pick up this travel mug for just under $5 and then stalk some freebie sites for free samples you can fill it with – Gevalia often has free K-Cup sample offers and Taster’s Choice is another popular one that often offers free samples.
4.) Is your gentleman really into the current mustache trend? If so, you can pick him up these cool looking coasters for less than $5.
If none of these really tickle your fancy, you can also check out my recommendations here for what to get your dad – plenty would work for your significant other too, and vice versa!

brokeGIRLrich readers, who do you think is the most difficult person to buy for on your shopping list?
This post is linked up to the weekly link party at I Heart Nap Time (because I really, really do <3 nap time) and is *Part of Financially Savvy Saturdays on Femme Frugality and The Broke and Beautiful Life* (because we try to make financially savvy choices here all the time and tips from others make it soooo much easier).
I love these DIY makes, especially the T-Shirt quilt and tumbler set. I don’t think my hubby has enough t-shirts for me to make a quilt out of, but I could break up the t-shirt squares with some plain fabric patches. Now I just need to learn how to quilt (something I’ve been wanting to try for ages)! Thanks for the inspiration!
I know! I’ve wanted to make a t-shirt quilt for ages too – I just need to beef up my sewing skills. I feel like I don’t want to destroy a bunch of semi-precious(?) t-shirts if I’m just going to mess the project up. Improving my sewing skills in general would probably save me some cash in long run, so I should probably get on it. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for sharing on Family Fridays Link Up Party!
I’ve been making t-shirt quilts for years…so cool to see them becoming popular! These are great ideas. Off to check out some others in the series.
Also, I feel like car insurance breaks our budget every month. It just seems so high, even though I have ridiculously low rates for my area. Got spoiled by living in a state with a really low population and therefore a really low premium for a while there.
Wow, I can’t even imagine paying low rates. I’ve been paying NJ insurance for 11 years and when I hear what people pay pretty much anywhere else in America it sounds unbelievable to me.
Beer Bottle Glass Set – Yes, yes, and yes, that is awesome and I would love it all day long if I got that Christmas morning.
Awesome! I feel even more confident now that it’s been dude-verified!
What a great series! Love these gift ideas – especially the tumblers.

The tumblers do seem to be the most popular. I feel like I really need to give making them a try so I can personally confirm if it’s as easy as it looks. Thanks for stopping by!
