Let’s start with – this is not a sponsored post.
Two of my worlds have collided here and I find it very curious. Across from where our RVs are parked, I noticed something strangely interesting. Capital One Café.
The stage manager in me loves coffee.
The personal finance blogger is very puzzled that Capital One has a café.
I became even more interested when one of my co-workers said they were giving our employees a free coffee and if I had a Capital One card (which I do), coffee is always 50% off.
So how could I not go explore this little spot of weirdness.
Inside I was surprised to find a Peet’s Coffee bar (a brand I’d heard of) and a spacious environment full of games and work stations.
The coffee bar prices were comparable to Starbucks unless you have a CapitalOne card. Since I still have an open Venture account from some card churning last year to get to Vegas, my coffee was 50% off.
I was also pretty excited to find they have a happy hour from 11 AM – 3 PM all week where drinks are 50% off for everyone and free for CapitalOne holders.
I expected a pretty hard sell on something related to CapitalOne when I went in there, but I didn’t get one (maybe because I already had a card?). What I did find though was a lineup of personal finance classes including how to check your credit score, how to save for travel and how to maximize charitable donations.
Inside you can also sit and play board games for hours, use their computer screens throughout the place to take little personal finance quizzes or just bring your own laptop and work like you would in any other coffeshop. They had giant jengas and a small basketball game going too while I was there.
I’m also a fan of CapitalOne as a whole. My emergency savings account is with them. My very first credit card was with them. Several churned credit cards have gone through them and their rewards are good and canceling was pretty hassle free.
So if a CapitalOne café springs up in your town, I highly recommend it. The coffee is good, the ambiance is even better. And they may have a useful workshop to help sort out some of your money issues.
Wow, that’s really good. Coffee on sale and free coffee is a always a great think. Never seen anything like it. More banks should follow their examples. And the bonus of the courses is great as well 🙂
I’m an avid coffee drinker. Coffee is pretty expensive here, so I almost never drink coffee when I have to pay it. We have a coffee machine at work and I bring my Nespresso capsules from home. I should go for a cheaper brand than Nespresso, but I like their coffee too much to stop.

Nespresso capsules are still cheaper than hitting an actual coffee store. Our band leader here has a Nespresso machine and is all about it. It’s a little too strong for me.
Hmmm, that sounds pretty interesting! Although there isn’t a café near me (you can check at https://www.capitalone.com/local), I hope they have a lot of success with them and are able to help a lot of people with their finances, and their caffeine addiction.

Haha, yeah. I’d never seen one before! I don’t think they have a ton of them yet, but it’s not a bad idea.
Looks like a great idea, wonder if they’ll last.

Yeah, I’m a little puzzled how much it does for CapitalOne. If I had to guess, I’m sure they hawk their products at the personal finance seminars, so maybe it’s successful enough on that front?
Hey,
Thanks for sharing. I love coffee.
