Skandagiri is another scintillating destination an hour’s drive from Bangalore city (70 km from Bangalore). Another paradise for sunrise lovers, it boasts one of the most stunning sunrises in India.

Obviously, you cannot catch the sun rising at this place by arriving at the foot of the hills by 6:00 AM in the morning. However, you can, if you happen to arrive at night, trek to the top in the night, camp through and wake up early enough to catch the sun in the act.

Apparently, night trekking happens to be one of the attractions of this place so you can be sure to find some company on the way.

Avalabetta is about 90 Kms from Bangalore City and another paradise on earth for nature enthusiasts.

It is also known as Avalakonda, Hasubetta or Dhenugiri, and is turning into a famous tourist spot fast.

There are more attractions to this place than ‘the most photographed cliff’ at the top. A breeze of fresh air, fluttering butterflies, and chirping birds, all feature at this hill retreat.

However, just a bit of caution for non-devotees of Lord Lakshminarasimhaswamy, avoid visiting the place in the festival season as it is usually crowded at these times.

  1. Sangam & Mekedatu

Sngama and Mekedatu are adjoining destinations approximately 90 Kms from Bangalore city. Sangama boasts the meeting point of two rivers Kaveri (Cauvery) and Arkavathi, while Mekedatu is a narrow inflection of largely wide Kaveri.

Mekedatu name comes from the narrow river side, where Kaveri is squeezed within less than 10-meter-wide gorge. The name itself mean a goat passage (or where a goat can pass the river).

This is a wonderful place to visit in summers, as the shallow water allows you to stroll through the river. It is recommended that you have your vehicle for the trip.

You can avail cab or taxi services from the hotel itself, within the city. Though you would like to find a hotel closer to these sights, most hotels are available within the city. Pre-booking your hotel stay through websites like Yatra, Goibibo or MakeMyTrip. The greatest benefit will be that you can be sure of the services beforehand.
