Are you the kind of person that goes stir crazy if you’re stuck in the same office day in, day out? Constantly wishing that you could get out there and see the world if only you had the time and the money do it. A lot of us feel like that from time to time but if you’re always itching to get out of the country and travel the world, you need to find a way to do it. Luckily, you can try one of these great careers that allow you to travel.
Teach English
There are so many countries around the world that are calling out for native English speakers to come over and work as teachers. You can find work quite easily and in a lot of different countries so it’s the perfect thing to do if you want to travel around the world and visit loads of places. You don’t need a degree to teach English as a foreign language but most places do require a TEFL qualification. The good news is that it’s a short qualification that you can usually do online in just a few months. You don’t need to be able to speak a second language yourself because all of the lessons will be conducted in English. A quick Google search will turn up loads of results for job opportunities, some offering money to cover your travel, so get searching and see what you can find.
Pilot
Being a pilot is the most obvious way to travel a lot. You’ll get to visit all sorts of countries at the expense of the airline and you’ll get the bonus of flying your own plane. You’ll need a degree from one of the best aviation colleges before you can start applying for jobs but you’ll get paid well as a pilot so it’s worth the investment. The only downside to being a pilot is that you don’t always get to spend a huge amount of time in the countries that you visit if you’ve got a return flight early the next day. There’s always the chance that you’ll spend most of your time there in the airport or in a hotel, but you’ll still get the opportunity to travel to some amazing countries.
Tour Guide
Popular tourist destinations are always in need of English speaking tour guides because it’s often the easiest language when you’ve got people from all around the world coming on the tour. You’ll have to live in the country for a while beforehand so you know what you’re talking about but you should be able to find work with a tour guide company that will give you the basic information that you need to know. The only thing to consider here is whether you’ll get bored of the city that you’re in. You have to pick carefully and find somewhere that you don’t mind walking around all day, every day.
You don’t have to compromise on your love of travel because of work. You can easily have the best of both worlds and find a job that satisfies your need for adventure.
Not only is teaching English in another country an awesome way to earn money, everyone I know who has done it LOVED it! It can be tough depending on where you go, but everyone has felt like they learned a lot and learned how to adapt in almost any situation. Very cool!
