It’s fair to say that if you really want to make more money, you can. There are literally so many ways to make more money that, although it might be difficult at times, there is no reason why anyone who is living in reasonable circumstances should not be able to boost their income even if only by a little.

Of course, it can be tough to work out how to make more money and that’s why I’ve put together this guide to making more money. Read it, explore the ideas, try and a few and see what works for you. One thing’s for sure, after reading, you’ll have a much better idea of what you need to do to bring in a few (or a lot) more bucks.

So, without further ado…

Change Your Job

The most obvious way to make more money is by moving to a` job that pays a higher salary. This works best when you have leverage in that you are highly skilled and very much in demand. You can use these factors to negotiate a better salary. Of course, simply moving to a company that pays better will work just as well if that’s a possibility (which it isn’t always).

Ask for a Raise

In a similar vein, if you are a hard worker who does good things for your company, you may be able to make more money by simply asking to be paid more. Around 80- percent of people who ask for a raise get one, according to statistics, so you shouldn’t be afraid to give it a try.


A lot of the time, if you want to make more money, you need to increase your skill base by, for example, looking at your online lpn to rn program options or doing that MBA that you always planned to do but never got around to. The more skilled you are, the more you are worth to the average employer, it really is that simple.

Start Freelancing

If you can’t make more money from your day job, then it might be time to start looking at ways you can make more money on the side. One of the best ways to make more money is by freelancing. Obviously, you’ll have to do some work building your blog up before you start making money, but if you’re persistent, it can bring in a decent sum every month once it’s up and running and you’ve found your audience.


If you have enough experience in your career or even just a certain hobby that you enjoy, then you could make money by teaching that skill to others. All you need to do is set up a website, print a few business cards and start posting on social media to attract your first client and you’re good to go.


If you want to make just a little extra pocket money, then completing paid surveys online is a quick and relatively effortless way to go about doing so.


If you have a degree, then you could find work tutoring kids in high school in your field of expertise. You could do this by setting up your own business, but it would probably be a whole lot easier to offer your services through a company like Kaplan who will match you up with students so that you don’t have to worry about doing that yourself.

Sell Your Crafts

If you’re handy with a crochet hook or you have a passion for paint, why not start selling your creations on marketplaces like Etsy? Even if you only make back the cost of your materials, you’ll be winning.

Become a Tour Guide

If you live in an area that gets a lot of tourists, you may want to try your hand about becoming a tour guide. This is something that you can easily just get into on weekends, and if you have a lot of people passing through, it could be quite lucrative. You will need to know a lot about your area though.


If you have the cash to spare, instead of leaving it languishing in a low-interest savings account, put it to work by investing it on the stock market, in real estate or in cryptocurrencies, for example, and watch your pot grow even as you do nothing much to help it. But, please do bear in mind that, when it comes to investments, there’s no such thing as a sure-thing.

It’s an oldie, but walking the dogs in your neighborhood is still a pretty good way of making more money if you need to. You could also offer your services as a dog sitter if you want to make even more cash.

Flip Houses

If you have a fair amount of capital, or you’re able to take out a home loan, you may be able to make bigger amounts of money by buying slightly rundown houses, doing them up and then selling them on for a profit. It isn’t for everyone because it can be pretty hard work, but if you have the time, money and will to do so, it could change your life.


You don’t have to be a teenager to earn a little extra cash babysitting. So, make it known to friends, family and neighbors that you’re available and see what happens.

Sell Your Photography

If you own a camera and you’re a pretty good photographer, why not sell your photos to stock image sites? If that doesn’t appeal. What about taking wedding photos? This is something you can easily do at the weekend around your regular 9-5 job, and it can be pretty lucrative.

Deliver Stuff

Now that so much stuff is bought online, there is an increasing demand for reliable delivery drivers, and since you can do this self-employed on your own terms, it’s something well worth considering.

Be a Mystery Shopper

Mystery shoppers basically visit shops, make a purchase and then report back on the experience. You can typically earn between $5-20 for doing what is basically a simple task.

Rent a Room

If you have a spare room, then you could earn thousands of dollars by renting it out each year. You could also earn a fair sum by renting out your garage as storage space if you don’t need that, too.

Join a Focus Group

Like giving your opinions? Join a focus group via a company like Harris Poll Online or Focus Pointe Global and get paid to tell people exactly what you think about things!

Write Reviews
