Profile
I am thirty two years old and I am the Production Stage Manager for the national tour of FAME. I make $700 per week and a $300 weekly stipend.
Saving & Spending
September might be trying to kill me. Or this tour is – as I type this going into day 7 of 16-20 hour days while trying to adapt to living on a tour bus. I definitely thought the tour bus thing would be a breeze after trains and ships, but it turns out I was wrong. I haven’t really adapted yet.
On the plus side, we work so much that I don’t spend a lot. I usually average about $10-20 a day on food and that’s been about it for the second half of the month.
The first half of the month, which now seems like a lifetime ago, I attended my best friend’s wedding (and nailed my budgeting system for being a bridesmaid in it) and commuted into NYC for rehearsal for 2 weeks, which is never cheap.
Our tech week of FAME was actually the calmest of the entire tour. Our commute was a 10 minute walk from the hotel and 10 out of 12s are actually easier to tolerate than the commute from NJ to NYC, rehearsal and then back home again.
I also ciprobuyonline.org booked an alternative flight home for a work layoff in November, which cost about $129, but I’ll be reimbursed $119 after the flight. I also booked a hotel in Oregon to go check out a college there during my October layoff.
My spending breakdown this month:
- Gym – $10.70
- Food – $431.56
- Stage Management Expenses – $403.60 (about $300 of that was refunded to me by the company I’m working for)
- Healthcare – $210.82
- LUSH – $33.53
- Car – $96.50
- Travel – $255.86
- Gifts – $408.88 (including the last $320.71 of my best friend’s wedding budget)
- Commuting – $46.25
- Clothes – $98.24
- Blog – $2.99
- Miscellaneous – $18.84
Total Spending in July – $2,017.77

- Develop 2 new resume skills– I will get this done. I will. At least half done.
- Track all the time I spent on my computer outside of work for 1 week and then go without a computer for a week and see how I use that time– yup. That’s still a goal…

- Run a 5k– This will pretty much take a miracle.
That $46.89 liabilities number is way cool. Just sayin’.

I sure don’t hate it.
That $10 gym membership is awesome. The best we can do here is $30. At least Mr. Mt takes full advantage, going 5 days a week and drinking his coffee there. =) The coffee alone helps bring the cost down!

It’s a Planet Fitness, so it’s not the greatest, but it works for how often I can get there and my budget.
Using planned layoff time to travel and research for schooling is pretty brilliant.
